Jenna traveled to Orlando to receive the award, cheered on with her parents, grandparents and teacher, Cynthia Cheatwood, in attendance. She will find out in the next couple of weeks if her essay earned any further recognition as it goes on to national competition.
Both Jenna and Lana will be guests at the April meeting of the Sophia Fleming Chapter of the DAR where each will read their essays to a room packed with DAR members. For Lana this will be her second time representing the school as it winner because she was the 7th grade winner last year. For Jenna it may be the first of many such accolades to come.
